Lupyr, Nataliia ; Marek, Jiří (referee) ; Šindlar, Jiljí (advisor)
The architectural study of a sacred space and community center for the Salesians in Brno-Líšeň includes the design of a church and associated facilities for the needs of the Salesian community. The aim is to create a space for prayer and the spiritual development of children and young people, which the Salesians support. The plot designated for the church is located near the Salesian Center and is surrounded by panel houses and civic amenities. There are shops, cafes, schools, and a clinic in the vicinity. The terrain of the plot is sloping, offering design possibilities. The proposed church utilizes the terrain relief by excavating a portion of the land and placing the church in a lowered space, creating a partially underground floor. This allows for more space for community activities and prayer. The design also includes an extensive park and gathering spaces. The church is designed as a standalone structure with functions divided into different levels. The parish and community functions are located on the ground floor, while the liturgical space is situated on the above-ground levels. The shape of the church harmonizes with the surrounding buildings, but the facade adds a contrast between the concrete architecture and nature. The construction of the church consists of reinforced concrete monolithic elements and wooden components. The underground portion is entirely monolithic, while the aboveground floors are composed of four reinforced concrete monolithic cores and wooden columns and beams. The goal of this architectural study is to create a functional and aesthetically appealing sacred space and community center that will serve the Salesian community and promote the spiritual and physical development of children and young people.
